Timmy's 5th Birthday

Last year I wrote about Timmy's birthday party at length, and in a timely manner, but I never got around to a post about what we did on his actual birthday; so here it is!  Baba was in town, and I took the day off of work, and we headed downtown with the boys.

We took Timmy and Tyler to the Natural History Museum for the first time.  Tim snuck out for a few hours to join us too.

We took a look at the African Elephants and then wandered through the dinosaur exhibit.

It did not take too many photo op requests for Timmy to decide he wanted to be the photographer!  I gave him my phone and he took pictures for the rest of the day.  It was really interesting to me to see what he chose to take pictures of..  Throughout the museum portion of this post, unless Timmy is in the picture, he took it!

We went through the animal exhibit and the kids asked tons of questions.  They have a leopard up high in a tree with an antelope hanging out of his mouth.  Timmy asked if the leopard was protecting it from other animals...  They also had a little display about animal poop.  Timmy could not believe that there was poop in the museum!  Timmy really started getting the hang of taking pictures while we walked through here.

Baba did take this group of pictures
There was a special exhibit at the time featuring the years best nature photographs.  Tyler wanted to be the subject of Timmy's photos at this point, so he posed in front of almost every photograph and said cheese for Timmy.  He did not want anyone else to take his picture and he did not want Timmy to take a picture without him in it!

After we stopped to eat at the museum cafeteria we headed through a hallway lined with birds, Timmy was taking pretty good pictures by this time!  We walked through a few more displays on our way out, made a quick stop in the museum store, and were on our way home.

That evening Uncle Joe came over for cake and presents.  Timmy got all of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle characters from Baba, Grandpa, and Joe, and he was thrilled!  Aunt Paula and Uncle Dale sent cool cards for both of the boys, and the stickers included were a big hit too!
