Valentine's Parties

Well I thought I had covered all of the school events from the 2014-2015 school year in my wrap up, but these cute pictures from both boys' Valentine's Day Celebrations were left out!  I am so happy that I am able to go into the kids' schools for these kinds of activities!

Valentine's Day, a little late!

Happy Belated Valentine's Day!  I had a little me time a few weeks ago so I made the boys some Valentine's Day shirts.  Timmy helped me design them on the computer, telling me where I should place the hearts.  He picked the dump truck for his shirt and said that Tyler would like the train.  Then he told me, "When I am bigger, I will make you a shirt for Valentine's Day!"  He's so sweet!  I was glad that he was excited about the shirts and he was even happy to try it on for a photo shoot!

On Valentine's Day I got to go to Timmy's school for a while to help with activity time, snack time, and play on the playground.  I had another chance to see first hand how amazing his teacher is, Patty has a few students that are really a handful, but she handles them wonderfully without ever dropping attention from the class as a whole.

On the playground Timmy asked me to slide with him and play chase, then I watched him and his friends run around and even roll down the little hill together.  Finally Timmy was ready to swing, which we hear he has been enjoying almost as much as running lately.  While we were waiting for his turn, he told me, "I will swing on one swing and you can swing on the other one." I said, "Well, I can push you and we can let someone else swing on the other swing."  He hesitated for a moment before saying, "Uhm, Mrs. Gordon can push me, and you can push the other person." (!)  Apparently Mrs. Gordon is an excellent pusher!

That evening I arrived home to find a dozen roses from Tim and a bouquet of daisy's from the boys.

We all exchanged cards and gifts, I had planned to take more pictures of this, but Timmy helped himself to the gift we had told him was his, before I could go get the camera, claiming he was 'too excited' to wait!  We got him an Angry Birds piggy, in hopes that it can be his Angry Birds new target, instead of us!  Tim made us a delicious dinner to wrap up the evening.

A few days later we got this wonderful letter in the mail!

Valentine's Day

For Valentine's Day this year Tim, Timmy, and I all went to dinner at a brand new seafood restaurant in our neighborhood before going home to open about 20 cards and our gifts to each other. Timmy has been making a lot of art at school and I've been struggling with what I should do with it after it's season is over and I take it off the fridge. I settled on getting him a little artist's portfolio, and I gave it to him for his Valentine. He was more excited about it then I could have hoped. I had him open it next to Dad, who hadn't seen it yet either, and they flipped through every page and Timmy told us about the media, whether it was paint or markers, etc, and what some of the subject matter was. When they got to the last picture he said, "I read the book again?" The next day he showed it off to Baba and Grandpa repeatedly too. These are some of my favorite pictures we've gotten of him in a while too!

Then, for dessert we had a little semi-homemade treat I made from a parenting magazine recipe I saw, they were a big hit!

Valentine's Day Project

Tim and I have been doing a lot of reorganizing around the house, trying to reclaim and organize our storage areas (garage, closet under the stairs, and guest room). This has been quite an under taking but has paid off nicely. A large part of the organizing was getting a new cabinet into the closet under the stairs, which allowed me to move all of my scrapbook and craft supplies out of the guest room, into said cabinet. It also gave me a chance to remember what exactly I had in my craft supplies and remind myself how far behind I am in my scrapbooks!

To get myself back into practice I enlisted Timmy, and a bunch of supplies that I already had, for a little Valentine's Day Project. I had a bunch of pink hearts already cut out from making a friend's wedding shower invitations and a package of prefolded cards. I set Timmy up with some red crayons and a bunch of the hearts and let him color them as much as he wanted to. I will put pictures of the final product up after Valentine's Day, I don't want to ruin the surprise for his Grandparents. ;)
