From there, Tim went to work on the fields in preparation for the first game, and I ran the boys to my favorite consignment store for an Easter Egg Hunt. They promised unlimited eggs... and they weren't kidding. I thought it was a little silly, but the boys' eyes lit up when they saw the floor covered in plastic eggs! I convinced Timmy to only put ones that were actually hidden into his basket, or to only pick up patterned eggs. Timmy was so excited to completely fill his basket! Tyler got really into it too, crawling under the racks for patterned eggs. After the boys were done filling their baskets up, a few times each, they traded in their eggs for some decent prizes, including books, and some snacks.
We made it to the field in time for Timmy's team pictures. It was genius of them to schedule it before the first game. Everyone usually shows up for the first game, and they aren't covered in dirt and stains yet!
The whole team had a great first game! This was the first year that didn't feel like the team was starting completely from scratch. Several of the kids, including Timmy and Caleb, got multiple outs during the game, and Timmy had three great hits!
Tyler and I snuck away from the field for a little while to enjoy the playground. We all pretty much called it a day when we got home!
The next morning we got up and met Brittany, David, Elizabeth, Sarah, and Jake for breakfast in Arlington. This was my first chance to meet Elizabeth and was way over due! It was a nice visit and great to catch up! Timmy and Tyler were eerily well behaved the whole time, they must have been worn out from Saturday!
From breakfast we headed the rest of the way down town and to the Nat's Kids Home Opener. That is always my favorite game of the season because they have free face painting and caricatures for the kids. We had both boys caricatures done by the same artist this year, and we both commented that Tyler's was very similar to his from last year. We laughed when we got home and saw the signatures, it was the same artist that had done Tyler's last year!
The boys loved seeing the Presidents, as usual. This time we had to weave through the crowds and find each president individually! Tyler led the way to each one.
And of course it's always nice to visit with Uncle Joe for a little while at the game too!
We enjoyed the view from the Red Porch for the start of the game and then made our way to our seats until the President's Race. We headed home as soon as the race was over!
