Tyler's First Day of Preschool!

Tyler had his First Day of Preschool this morning.  He was pretty excited about it, and Timmy was very encouraging to him about how much he would love school.  At one point during breakfast though, Timmy asked kind of quietly, "Are you a little bit scared, Tyler?"  Tyler answered, "Uhm, no." and kept eating.  I asked Timmy if he had been a little scared before Kindergarten, and he answered very loudly that he was not...  Tyler was excited for his turn for pictures too.

Finally big brother couldn't stand not being in the pictures anymore!

Peek-a-boo!

The timing for me to get Tyler to Preschool will allow Timmy to take the bus on those mornings, so Timmy had a first today too.  He got a little shy at the bus stop, but he never looked back at me once the bus pulled up!  Tyler and I followed the bus a little on our way out of the neighborhood, when we made our turn, Tyler called out, "Bye bye Timmy!"

Tyler and I arrived early enough for a few more pictures.

And we have to wash his hands every morning before going to his room.

Tyler did not hesitate to walk into the room and Ms. Liz showed him where to hang up his bag.

And he got right to work!

When I told Tyler that I was leaving, he used his dissapointed voice and said, "Okay, bye bye Mommy..." but he didn't really seem to mind, I thought that was very nice of him to pretend for me.  Today and Friday are called phase in days, so the kids only go to school with half of their class, and only for an hour and ten minutes.  Tyler was not ready to leave!  He was showing me all of the food in the kitchen when Ms Sue came over and said that Tyler had been very busy checking everything out and had even been painting.  Tyler ran over to the easel and made two more paintings before he agreed to leave!

Tyler did just as well when he met Ms Sue and Ms Liz last week.  I think he was a little nervous when we pulled up, I kept telling him, "This is Tyler's school now!" and he asked, "You come Mom, too?"  When I told him that I was coming in I got one of his, "Yay Mom! You're the best!"  that I have got to get on video sometime!  Once inside, he got right down on the floor to play, was talking up a storm, and didn't want to leave.  Ms. Sue was the assistant teacher in Timmy's 2's class, and she keeps telling me how excited she is to have Tyler, and how blessed I am to have two great boys.  I think Tyler will be having a great year!

Success!

Timmy's first day of Kindergarten was a success!  The second day was too!  Tim and I met to pick Timmy up after his first day of school and did get a little scare.  When we walked up to Mrs Sheaffer she asked us where Timmy was.  After receiving blank stares back from us, she said "Oh, I'm supposed to tell you that." and she started simultaneously telling us to remain calm while running around looking for Timmy.  It turned out that he was never out of sight of a teacher, but Mrs Ivy hadn't communicated to Mrs Sheaffer that she was taking Timmy out of the line, so we were all a little panicked for about five minute!  As Mrs Sheaffer said, it gave her a story for the first day of school, and if she had to lose anyone's kid, she was glad it was Tim's!

Going through the tons of paperwork we received the first evening, I came across this.  I also overheard Timmy telling Baba on the phone that the picture he drew of himself the first day had a huge smile.

First day of Kindergarten!

It is a big school year for us with Timmy starting Kindergarten and Tyler starting Preschool!  Luckily, their first days are spread out by a week, so it's not too much for me to handle!  We took a family trip to the grocery store yesterday so that Timmy would be all set for snacks and lunches, and he got a donut for breakfast, which is really the only way to guarantee he eats breakfast!  The boys woke themselves up as I was making their chocolate milk, they slept until at least 10 am the last three days in a row, so I figure Timmy was excited for school today!

Tyler seemed confused as to why I was taking pictures at breakfast,
it was cracking me up

Timmy wanted to wear his Super Hero Squad shirt today, he had told us this several days in a row, and had said he wished he was wearing it last week when we met his teacher.  We promised him that he could wear it tomorrow, and he didn't argue when Daddy picked out his clothes.  He was ready to take pictures and put his back pack on without even being asked.  He continued to smile happily through the rest of my First Day of School props!

On our short drive to Grandad's Timmy talked to Baba; he told her, "Mommy is driving us to Grandad's and THEN WE'RE GOING TO MY FIRST DAY OF KINDERGARTEN!!!"  I was very excited to hear the excitement in his voice.

It's probably a two to three block walk from Grandad's to school.  Timmy and Tyler started off with a pretty quick pace.  As we got within sight of the school and all the kids at the entrance Timmy definitely slowed down!

A few more pictures in front of the school and we all headed into the cafeteria, where the students in 3rd grade and under wait until it's time to go to their classroom.

As we got under the overhang of the school and went past some of the older students who were catching up with friends, it got very loud and Timmy's eyes got very big.  The cafeteria was also very noisy.  Timmy looked a little nervous, but didn't say anything about it.  We found Mrs Sheaffer and said good morning.  We reminded Timmy of his pin for buying lunch and kept telling him to have so much fun.

Proof that I was a dry-eyed Mommy!  I did swell up as he walked away, but out of pride and excitement, not sadness!

Finally Timmy's class lined up and followed Mrs Sheaffer to their room.  A few of the other kids burst into tears when their line started moving, but Timmy saw me standing by the door and gave me one more happy face!

Last week we got to see Timmy's classroom and meet his teachers, Mrs Sheaffer and Mrs Ivy.  Tim didn't need an introduction though, Mrs Sheaffer was Tim's fourth grade teacher!  She also taught Becky, Chris, and several of my friends, and was even a guest at our wedding!

Timmy is going into class with several friends, his best buddy Nate, my high school friend's son Carter (who Timmy has played T ball with and known for years), and Izzy from his class last year.  The class has 25 students and there are 18 boys!

I can't wait to pick him up this afternoon and hear all about it!!!
