Our New Nephew, Bryce

Michael Bryce Hedges, Bryce, was born Wednesday, November 14th at 12:45 AM.  He weighed 7 pounds, 10 ounces and was 20.75" long.  He was also 60 hours ahead of his scheduled arrival!

We had all gone to sleep early Tuesday evening and when I randomly woke up and saw a text from Elena that she was at the hospital with Jenny, it took a while to sink in.  I woke Tim up and he got his stuff together for the next day and went to the hospital to be there for the babies birth.  Elena and Tim Senior were there too.  By the time Jenny was out of recovery it was nearly 3 AM.  Tim slept on his dad's couch from about 4:30-7:30 and then went to work!

I told Timmy in the middle of the night, during a potty trip, that Aunt Jenny was having her baby.  Timmy asked, "So, are we going to Aunt Jenny's house?" I told him we would in a few days when she got home, but that she would be in the hospital for a few days first.  A couple minutes later he said, "Brayden sure is going to miss all of his toys, being at the hospital for a few days."  When I told him that Brayden was at home he told me, "No he isn't!  There's no grown-ups there!"  So I assured him that Uncle Brett would be home with Brayden while Jenny and the baby were in the hospital, and Timmy happily went back to sleep.

I went to the hospital on my way to work on Wednesday to meet Bryce.  He is so adorable, and looks a lot like his big brother, Brayden, as an infant.  They definitely have the same nose and chin.

I went to visit Jenny and Bryce every day while they were in the hospital.  It was so nice having them right around the corner from my office!  It took Jenny and Brett her full hospital visit to agree on a name, Jenny was leaning towards Brody, and Brett was leaning towards Bryce!  It was funny because it was such a huge contrast to their naming of Brayden, her very first sonogram with him was labeled on facebook as David Brayden Hedges!  I don't know how they finally decided on Bryce, but the name does suit him perfectly!

When I showed Timmy the pictures of Bryce he first said, "You got to hold him?!" and followed that immediately with, "He's so little!"  I'm looking forward to taking Timmy and Tyler to meet their new cousin, as soon as they are all settled at home.

It had been just a few short weeks earlier that Jenny's friend, Jessica, helped me throw a baby shower for Jenny at Elena's.  We had a really nice time and, way too much, delicious food.  The theme was surfboards, as is Brayden and Bryce's room.

We'll be visiting them all at home this weekend!
