Five for Friday

I haven't tried the blog-world's "Five for Friday" format before, but I have several little snippets that are getting older and older in my "to blog about" file, so I thought I'd give it a try.

1. Skype - Timmy's best friend from preschool last year, Francis, went to Kenya a few weeks after the start of this school year to meet his Grandparents.  Francis, his dad, and little brother ended up staying in Kenya through what was originally supposed to be Christmas, which turned into May, and now may be for another whole year (with Mom joining them).  Francis's mom had updated us with some pictures and stories about Francis' life there and we discussed the possibility of them skyping several times.  We finally connected with him at the end of January.  Timmy was sooo excited to see his friend!  The boys spent most of the time just smiling at each other, there wasn't a whole lot of talking!  We are planning to try again soon, hoping the boys will be chattier next time around!

2.  Soccer - Tim signed Timmy up for his first two sports, which will start sometime this month!  He will be playing soccer in a league by our house, and he will be playing "Blast Ball" (a step below t-ball, the kids only have to run to first base to score, and only have to raise the ball above their head to get an out) in Reston.  The day after Tim did the registrations, we started receiving a lot of amazon boxes!  By the end of the week Timmy was fully equipped for both sports.  Every evening he begs us to play soccer with him, I really think he's going to be good, if he can manage to get the ball away from the other "magnets" in this age group, and if he doesn't get thrown out of every game for pushing!  He gets a little rough, especially when playing with Daddy!  He is very good at watching out for Tyler when Tyler's playing defense though!

3.  Disney, Virtual and Real - For Christmas we got the Xbox Kinect game for Disney Land.  It is amazing, your avatar walks around the Magic Kingdom and every single thing that is there in real life is in the game.  You run into character's, take their pictures and ask for their autographs.  You buy clothes and souvenirs in the stores.  When you enter the rides you play interactive games instead of going on the actual ride, but they are all in the correct spots!  Timmy is able to play by himself which is nice but I do enjoy playing it with him.  The game allows one or two players and you can jump in and out when you want, so while he's walking around the park it's just him, but when he plays the games sometimes he asks me to help.  I haven't been able to get a great video yet, but these will give you the general idea.  We are hoping to be heading to Disney World for real, next month!

4. The baby in the mirror - Tyler and I were home alone one evening and I was trying to get laundry put away, so I stood Tyler up next to my mirror to see if that would entertain him.  It did, but it entertained me just as much!  Tyler was giving the baby lots of high five's and kisses!

5. Still lacking on sleep - The boys gave me  a few rough nights of sleep again this week.  It's mostly Tyler, but Timmy will occasionally wake up to pee and then try to sneak into our bed, so I'll have to get up and go put him back in his!  Sometimes he'll wake up after he pees, which is even more fun...  Tyler is still regularly waking up for two bottles a night, at about 1:30 and again around 5:30.  Some nights he wakes up every hour or so though!  He hasn't had any new teeth come in, and he doesn't need his diaper changed, I have no idea what's waking him up.  We are trying everything we can think of: he has a humidifier to help with winter congestion, a space heater because his room gets ridiculously cold at night, and I have recently added a fan as well, hoping that the white noise will help drown out anything he might be hearing from outside!  On the worst of one of these nights a few weeks ago I wondered if he secretly hates me and is trying to kill me off... this week I came up with a more probable answer though, I think he's trying to get me fired so I can be a stay at home mom!  ;)

Fun post! :) You're a natural at 5 for Friday. :)

Yes, Amazon, everyone's best friend. Since moving to Lincoln Chris is always like, "what's this charge from Amazon for?" There are always a few I forget to note, oops! It looks like Timmy is well stocked for his sports though. Too fun. :)

And, sorry about the non-sleeping! These kids and their never-filled bellies. :) I've been so sleep deprived that my short term memory has been shot, and I feel sick. I even took a preg test-nope, just legitimately THAT tired! Sheesh. Hope we get a break soon!
