Take me out to the Ball Game!

Last Wednesday we went to the National's game with Chris, Christa, Brandi, and 'The Dale's', and it was Tyler's first trip to the ballpark!  It was a beautiful evening and an exciting game, featuring Adam LaRoche's 1000th hit and Bryce Harper's 1st professional triple, as well as 3 or 4 home runs!  The weather was absolutely perfect for sitting outside!  Brandi and Chris were particularly helpful with the boys and Timmy and Tyler were both in a good mood until pretty close to the end, even though it was way past their bed times.

Joe is working at National's Park this summer as the President's Secret Service, so we got to see him while we were there too.  Tyler let Joe get him pretty close to Teddy, but Timmy wanted NOTHING to do with these guys, he hid behind me the whole time and if anyone tried to pick him up while the President's were around he freaked out, fearing he would be carried over to them.  I thought he'd be a little better with Mascots after going to Disney World!  I'm just thankful all over again that he decided to meet most of the character's on our vacation!

Mother's Day 2012

We had a very busy Saturday before Mother's Day, so we went back and forth a few times about whether to go out to brunch with our mom's, or have them over as we have the last few years.  Finally Tim decided to host, which was perfect for me, it meant that he straightened the house and made a grocery store run before going to bed, and it meant I didn't have to leave the house on Sunday!

I woke up Sunday to find 3 rose bushes, one from each of my boys, that Tim is going to plant on the side of the house for me, along with a card that Timmy and Tyler both colored on for me.

When our parents arrived we had a yummy brunch of omelets, Belgian waffles, roasted potatoes, and fruit.  After everyone left and we put Tyler down for a nap, we put the 3D feature of our TV to use for the first time in a while, finally watching Avatar.  Tyler woke up as the movie was ending and we all laid around being silly for a while and went outside to blow bubbles and let Timmy drive Bumblebee around a bit.  Then Tim had a basketball game to coach; he took Timmy with him and Tyler went down for another nap, so I parked myself on the couch and caught up on some of my reality shows!  It was a nice, relaxing day, which is hard to come by for us in the summer!

The Friday before Mother's Day the class mom's and Baba were invited to Timmy's class for breakfast.  The kids asked us what we wanted to eat, fixed us plates, and carried it to our seats.  Timmy was so sweet, with a big smile, it was great.  While we were there they decorated picture frames for us, and they had already made us butterflies, hand towels with their hand prints, and these cute "All About Mom" pictures (this is actually the first time I've seen Timmy draw a person with a body.)

Mrs. B. told me that when she asked Timmy my age, his full response was, "Hmmm, she's older then me... she's 6!"  I'll take 6 to the 87 another mom got!  He did well on my favorite colors, but I'd have to say the favorite foods are his, Dad does the store duties almost entirely, and I'd say our favorite thing to do is snuggle... but playing basketball is fun too!

To wrap up the celebration they sang us two songs!  This was my favorite, and I'd be lying if I said I hadn't requested it a few more times at home!

Tyler's First Birthday Party

For Tyler's party we had lots of family and friends over to celebrate with us.  Tyler seemed to like all the colors and decorations, especially the giant caterpillar that he pointed out.  He really loved playing with the balloons too.

Tyler also enjoyed having so many people there to pay attention to him and he was very social.  The big boys had fun too, the play room got torn apart and put back together twice over the course of the party!

Watching Tyler eat his cake was a highlight again.  Timmy and Brayden helped him blow out his candles again too.  I made the cake-pops for the caterpillar and I was glad I had decided to make extras, all of the kids chose to eat those over actual cake!  Tyler started out slowly on his cake this time around, taking a bite out of each of his cake-pops before getting to the rest of the cake.  By the time he was ready to get out of his highchair he had green icing from head to toe though!

Baba, Grandpa, Jenny, Brett, and Brayden hung around after the party to watch Tyler open his gifts.  Timmy and Brayden gave him a hand getting everything open and tested out!

It was a great time and we were very thankful that so many of the important people in our lives were able to come and celebrate our newly minted toddler with us!

Tyler's First Birthday

For Tyler's First Birthday we had dinner at Grammy and PawPaw's house.  Aunt Jenny, Brayden, and Uncle Chris came too.  Timmy had helped me bake and decorate the cake the evening before.

Brayden and Timmy were excited to sing happy birthday and blow out the candle for him.  Brayden actually practiced singing a few times, and the last line of his rendition goes, "Happy Birthday to you... and CAAAAAAAKE!" By the time I took his picture he was just anxious for the cake though!

Tyler thouroughly enjoyed his first real taste of cake.  I wasn't suprirsed, he's always liked chocolate!  He reached right in and got a huge handful of icing in one hand, then used his other pointer finger to take a little taste with!

He clearly needed a tubby after, it was a good thing Grammy and Pawpaw had just given him this adorable monkey outfit!
