Timmy 4 Years, 5 Months

Timmy is a big boy.

I told you so. Of course, someone needs to explain to me how he has gotten so big, so fast!  After meeting our nephew on Wednesday (more on him soon!), I really can't understand how this has happened in just under 4.5 years.  Timmy's class picture and Fall Progress Report came home last week too.  The pictures were taken in the middle of October.

His report reads:

Child's adjustment to school:
Timmy arrives each day with a smile and ready to start the day.  He knows the routine and finds an interesting center and gets involved.

Child's Social Interaction:
Timmy gets along well with his peers and they enjoy interacting with him.  He is comfortable coming to his teachers with any questions and concerns.

Child's participation in activities:
Timmy enjoys many centers including: housekeeping, art, blocks, making trains from Legos, working with magnets, play-doh, and the water and sand tables.

Pam and I are happy to have Timmy in our Turtle Class.

I am one proud Mom.  One of Timmy's favorite things to do at school now is to "make envelopes" which they did a few months ago to hold letters for us.  So now Timmy likes to fold his drawings and write Mom on them, which makes them into envelopes.  This is my favorite one so far:

A few things Timmy has said over the past couple weeks have made me smile and I want to be sure to remember them, so here they are.  One evening while playing, I don't remember what, Timmy stopped short and said, "Am I an impressive guy? I can ___________."  I was so caught on the question that I didn't process the act he thought was impressive!

A few evenings later, while Timmy was playing the new Angry Birds Star Wars on Daddy's phone, he came across a new power one of the birds has and said, "Ohhh, fascinatin."  Too much.  He is certainly expanding his vocabulary at school this year.

He is also learning about syllable's, as I discovered as I was falling asleep last night.  Timmy suddenly started saying classmates names, and clapping and counting out the syllable's.  He was really good at it and proud of it too, it was too cute.

I'm realizing that this post is as much about school as a monthly update, but I guess he's getting to the age where that will be the case more often then not!  SO BIG!

Daytona

Back in September we took a wonderful vacation with Tim's Dad and Susan, going to Daytona and Disney World.  We spent three relaxing, beach-filled days in Daytona.  We stayed at The Bahama House, which I would highly recommend   It was a convenient location, had a nightly, complimentary happy hour, and is shaped so every room has a view of the beach.

Being there in the middle of September meant that we pretty much had the beach to ourselves.  The beach was wide, flat, and soft with a good sprinkling of seashells.  The flat beach extended way into the Ocean so you could walk really far in without the water getting too high.  The waves were rolling and gentle towards the shore but got pretty big if you went out far enough.  It was the perfect beach for our group!

Tyler was not so sure about the Ocean.

But he did love the pool and the sand.

Timmy was in heaven.  He was a different little boy then we had taken to the Outer Banks last September.  He got into the water and he didn't get out until he was forced!  One day his feet were actually so wrinkled that they hurt him to stand on them!  He loved splashing around and daring the waves to knock him over.

When they did he jumped back up and started again.  He also enjoyed hurdling the small waves and surfing on Dad's back.

We had wonderful food the whole trip and enjoyed an evening on the Boardwalk.

We also relaxed at the hotel

And drove out to see a light house

But mostly we played in the water and the sand.

Black Outs & Hanging Out

Way back in July our area had a severe storm and experienced wide spread power outages that lasted several days in some neighborhoods.  Luckily for us, we did not lose power, but Jenny and both of Tim's Parents did.  Another positive was that the worst of it occurred over a weekend.  Jenny brought Brayden over to our house and stayed for almost two full days to escape the heat at her house.  The boys played wonderfully together and went through all kinds of fun activities.

On the first day there was the Pirate Table and throwing water at each other. (Yes, naked.)

 

Shortly after that we all had dinner and sent the big boys downstairs to watch a movie while we watched grown up movies upstairs!

The next morning Jenny and Brayden had actually gotten up really early and left.  Timmy and I were both sad they were already gone, but it turned out they had just gone for breakfast and were back quickly!  We built a fort for Timmy and Brayden and they had a great time hanging out inside. Tyler was not a fan of sitting underneath, but he didn't mind going through it like a tunnel, so he took a few turns too.

The fort was then turned inside out and the boys piled up all our pillows and took turns jumping off of the ottoman into the pile.

Next came pillow fighting with Tim.

Which he quickly turned into sword fighting themselves.

Finally they were pretty well worn out.

So they took a break for popsicles.  Tyler tried to keep up with Timmy and Brayden through all their activities.  When he saw the popsicle he was determined not to let his age keep him back!  I love that Timmy decided to take matters into his own hands and make Tyler face the camera!
