29 Months

Yesterday Timmy turned 29 Months old. It was also the last day of his second round of music class, so I decided to take part of the morning off to go with him and Mom to see what they do in class. It was so cute! It was neat to see him participating with the other kids and following the word clues in the songs to hop, sleep, eat, shake, etc. Towards the end of class the teacher gets out tons of instruments that they can check out on their own. We had a lot of fun!

I am happy to say that during the last month Timmy has made huge strides in speaking and sleeping again! At this point I notice at least one new word each day, and he uses sentences a lot (which is helpful in determining what the heck he's talking about sometimes!) We are also going on 11 nights in a row of Timmy letting me tuck him in and leave before he's asleep, and then him sleeping through the night! Unfortunately I am not sleeping through the night... as baby #2 is already making me wake up to pee a few times a night! I'm not really even showing yet (depending on my shirt) I'm scared for what will happen when baby gets bigger! We have gotten Timmy to believe that there is a baby in Mommy's belly, and he will even kiss the baby from time to time, but I think that he thinks we're crazy and he's just playing along to not hurt our feelings! ;)

Preschool!

Timmy started preschool last Thursday and is attending his second day as I'm typing! He did really great on his first day! Usually when we get to Mom's in the morning, they cuddle and read and watch tv and are generally pretty lazy until lunch time, or at least until playgroup! ;) (I'm just jealous...) But to be on time for school, Timmy needs to get dressed almost right away, so he could tell that something different was happening and he got pretty excited.

Once he got to school he had a slight "deer in headlights" thing going on, but he was just waiting to see what was going to happen next. He was not upset at all when Baba said goodbye and the teacher said that he did great. (They have them sit in their cubbies when they come back to the room from different activities to get them all organized, before washing their hands for snack time. I think he looks SO small when he sits there, I'm used to thinking how big he is!)

At the end of class the principal took Mom's camera in and got pictures that show how well he was listening and participating. It really looks like he just jumped right in there!

Mom has already given me the update on drop off today. Apparently he was excited to leave for school and couldn't wait to get into the building. He sat in his cubby to put all his stuff away and then ran around the corner into his classroom before Mom could wash his hands. I'm so glad that he likes it and I'm hoping that we see some major improvements in his vocabulary and that he maybe even starts to show an interest in potty training, being around other kids more.

Happy Halloween!

For Halloween this year Tim and I had no problem deciding on Timmy's costume. He LOVES the Toy Story movies and he asks for them by saying "Buzz" and when asked what Buzz says, he'll tell you "Infinity and Beyond!" so it was an easy choice. Last year Timmy hated his costume (it was a giant monkey suit after all...) and we wanted to make sure that wouldn't be a problem so I told him we got him buzz pajamas, figuring this would be a complete non-issue this year. I was wrong. As soon as he even saw the custom he would say "No costume, no buzz, no buzz costume" and whimper and refuse to put it on. I tried every bribe I could think of, he turned down whatever I offered in order to not wear it.

Luckily, yesterday he was off schedule and did not take a nap, so in the late afternoon he was in a bit of a daze, and while changing his pants, he was hugging me and watching a movie over my shoulder, and didn't seem to notice that I was done putting his pants on... so, I grabbed his costume too! He did not even know I was putting it on him until I put the helmet part over his head! He started to protest but I grabbed him and "flew" him into the other room to everyone's applause and some fruit snacks, and we were all good! He wore his costume around to all of his grandparent's houses and went trick-or-treating for the first time, wearing it for probably 6 hours straight!

I think his favorite part of trick-or-treating was carrying the flash light and ringing the door bells. That no nap thing I mentioned did end up cutting our t-o-t time a little short, we went to a neighborhood that didn't have door bells, and that led to a mini-meltdown, but he certainly collected enough candy to last him a long time!

28 Months.... and news!

Timmy turned 28 months yesterday and we spent the weekend sharing some news with our families and friends!!!

We brought Timmy around to each grandparents house with a sweatshirt on over this t-shirt and enjoyed seeing everyone's reactions when the sweatshirt came off! We are happy to announce that Timmy will be a Big Brother some time around May 11th! This will time out to about 5 weeks before Timmy turns three!

Tim wants to be surprised as to whether we are having a boy or a girl this time around... I am going to try to go along with this plan. I will be analyzing all sonograms though, that's for sure! He says I can buy the bedding I want a few weeks before for either a boy or girl and we'll just return the one we don't need and he also says he'll have the nursery painted before I get home from the hospital. I am putting this in writing here so I can hold him to it! ;)

Fall Fun

We woke up Saturday to beautiful weather and took advantage of it by going to Cox Farm which is a great pumpkin patch right around the corner from our house. Last year when we visited, Timmy was a little bit affraid of the goats, this year he was happy to walk right up to them and try to pet and feed them! He went down several of the slides too. I sent him down one on his own and he wiped out, spun around, and hit his head on the hay bales on the side... I had planned to walk down but immediately slid down behind him, just to find him laughing at the bottom of the slide instead of crying like I had expected! He seemed to enjoy the things he could climb on the most this year (imagine that!) which included a long wooden train and a huge mountain of hay bales. It made for a very nice afternoon for all of us!

27 Months... and then some

Okay, I'm slacking this month! This post will be a bit of catch up about what we've been up to all September! Timmy's independent play is becoming more advanced. He still loves his vehicles the most, but he has a set of dinosaurs and some musical instruments that he spends quality time with as well. He received both for his birthday. One evening when Timmy was playing alone before bed I suddenly heard "Roarrrr.... Roaaaar" and looked over to find this kodak moment!

This month we've gotten to spend a lot of time with Jenny and Brayden, thanks to his Dad's busy schedule! One weekend they came out to our house and played in Timmy's pirate ship and in the tubby. The next we all spent the weekend at Grammy's house while she was relaxing at the beach!

Timmy has recently discovered Hide-and-Seek... most of the time he is very, very easy to find because he hides in the same spot over and over again. Every once in a while though, at a grandparents house, he sneaks off and starts playing without warning... and it takes me quite a while to find him! I use "Let's hide" to trick him into cuddling on the couch with me, he'll stay still as long as the blanket is over our heads! If someone helps him hide he does a good job of staying still and quiet! In the below picture he asked for help hiding when he heard Grandpa (now pronounced Ga-pa) getting home from work, he's burried beneath the pillows on the couch!

We bought Timmy a tricycle last weekend... it's going to take some patience on all of our parts to really get him pedaling, but he looks really cute sitting on it!

Dad and I got up in my parents attic Monday evening and pulled out all of my and Joe's old toys for Timmy. So far all that we've unpacked is two boxes of Playfamily People. Timmy is in heaven! He has not played with anything else this week at Baba's! The little vehicles are, ofcouse, his favorites and the set has a gas station. They must ration gas in Playfamily Land because all Timmy's cars do is wait in line to get filled up!

Last night we got to play with Brayden and Dylan at Grammy's house. Timmy shared his toys really well with Dylan and they had fun chasing each other around and getting Grammy to give them too much sugar! I think Timmy was looking particularly cute in his overalls! He has learned to unlock and open Grammy's back sliding door, and to undo the deadbolt and open the door to the garage!!! It just became a lot more tiring for Mommy to hang out at Grammy's! (Especially since when he decides to play Hide-and-Seek I now have to check outside!!!)

A weekend of Timmy-style fun!

Last weekend we had a very Timmy oriented weekend (as I wish more of them were this busy summer!) On Saturday we went to Collin's Birthday Party (My childhood friend's, son!) who just turned three. They had a ginormous water slide in the backyard and even though Timmy didn't choose to go down the slide, he did have fun splashing around in the pool at the bottom and had fun playing with all the kids inside at the train table.

From there we picked up Baba and went to see Tim and Grandad who were selling shave ice at a children's carnival nearby. Timmy had a blast in the moonbounce there, no hesitation at all about getting in, and after just a little while he even figured out how to go through the obstacle course, up the ladder, and down the slide all by himself. When the bigger kids would get in and bounce around too much for his liking, he would just sit down and stay still until they had moved on, or if it was at the ladder for the slide, he would simply stand out of the way and let them pass him before starting his climb! There were some other fun things at the carnival as well, and of couse we had some yummy shave ice!

On Sunday we took Timmy to his First Circus! It was the Coles Brother's Circus, a Two-Ring in a Big Top. The first act was the Tigers and he watched very intently. He enjoyed the first clown act too, laughing appropriately even though they were on the far side of the tent. He watched the Flying Trapeze act and another animal act before he got tired of the whole thing. He was standing infront of me and said "Go..." and pointed down the stairs, across the aisle and out the door... he gave me his escape plan! Luckily, we were ready to go too because it was a million degrees, and it just happened to be time for intermission!
